Strandhill was the venue for the societies midway point on this year’s fixtures list. Last Saturday (29^th June) 21 players made the short trip to the coast to play on what is a  truly terrific links golf course. The weather was fantastic, a warm summers day with some passing clouds and a slight sea breeze coming into play on certain holes meant it would be as tricky as ever to keep the ball on the fairways on Strandhill’s great natural terrain.

Lorcan Harrisons humongous 45 points was easily enough for the Competition Sec to win the competition and  take the day’s honours and receive his second overall winner’s trophy and no doubt celebrating later  that evening by playing his Air Drums. Aiden Mc Keon was closest to the days winning score with 43 points earning him the Overall Runners Up spot and taking the winner’s prize for the high handicap category. The low category was won by Vincent Mc Morrow with 38 points with Niall Loftus runner up with 35 points in the same category. Patricia Bohan won the ladies category with 33 points with Breda Travers taking second position with 31 points. Declan Loftus won the front nine with 21 points and Jimmy Egan winning a prize for the back nine with 22 points.
