The last outing for 2015 and Lorcan Harrison’s Captain’s Day took us to New Forest Golf Club. Conditions were pretty good but the greens in particular proved difficult. All of the four Golfer of the Year competitions were up for grabs and an exciting day lay ahead for all. Winner on the day, and claiming his first ever AGGS victory at the same time, was Colm Griffin with an impressive 39 points. It’s been a productive few weeks for Colm as he won the Captain’s Prize in Carrick Golf Club recently.

The race for the overall GOY was very close entering the last day with 5 or 6 players still in with a chance of winning, however after just missing out in previous years, Vincent McMorrow came from third place to end up one point ahead of Tommy Aherne, with Declan Loftus one point futher back in third.

Marian Fahy came into the last outing with a good lead in the Ladies GOY and duly landed her first title, breaking the stranglehold that Breda Travers and Kathlen Loftus had. Well done Marian! Tommy Aherne won the newly created Low Handicap GOY and Declan Loftus is 2015 High Handicap Golfer of the Year.
