For the second time this year, we played a course that was new to our Society, as we travelled to New Forest just outside Tyrellspass in Co. Westmeath. For various reasons, quite a few people couldn’t travel, so we had a slightly smaller turnout than usual of 23 golfers. We were blessed with dry conditions and glorious sunshine, although a strong wind provided a challenge. The course was in very good condition although the fast greens created trouble for many, and overall the scoring was lower than usual.

Overall winner on the day was Fr. Peter Burke with 35 points, just edging past Colm Griffin with a better back nine. Dessie Doyle took the honours in the High Handicap section with Breda Travers finishing in the lead in the Ladies. The outing was sponsored by Lorcan Harrison. The average score of all completed rounds was 24.4 points.
