The second outing of the year brought the society to Athlone GC, a smaller than usual number of players turned up on Saturday 11th March with 23 members competing for glory. As always, Athlone was a true test of golf, challenging yet enjoyable, well for most anyway. The golf course was in remarkable condition given the recent level of rain fall and helped on the day with a blue sky and the sun shining. The sun was also shining on Liam Loftus who for the second consecutive visit to Athlone won the day’s overall competition beating his last score there by 1 with 39 points. Captain Chris Fahy took second spot and also won the high handicap category with 36 points. Danny Egan won the Low Handicap with 33 points narrowly beating Brian Beirne on a countback. Winner In the Ladies section was Patricia Bohan with 33 points. Front and back nine winners where Enda McNamara, 20 pts and Ber Hogan with 18 pts.

The standard scratches were as follows –

Mens  34
