After the cancellation of the Esker Hills outing due to bad weather, the first excursion for 2023 took us to Strandhill Golf Club. We were fortunate to not have any rain to contend with but a very strong breeze provided more than enough of a challenge to most golfers. It was an historic day as we have a Lady Captain for the first time in our Society, and Breda Travers duly banged a long and straight sot down the first fairway.

We had a very good turnout of 30 golfers with a few new faces, so it looks like a very competitive year’s golf lies ahead. Winner on the day was everyone’s favourite Limerick man, Kevin Daly. After a few close shaves in the past, Kevin finally had his maiden victory with the Society, shooting a very good 39 points in the windy conditions. The outing was sponsored by Cyril McKeon.
